How to Control Hypertension Without Medication in 4 Weeks

If you experience severe headache, confusion, fatigue, tightening in the chest, heavy breathing, vision problem, irregular heart rhythm in a regular basis it is very likely that you have hypertension, or high blood pressure. However, in order to determine whether you actually have high blood pressure or not, you will have to take a measurement of blood pressure for 24 hours, and the average pressure will tell you whether you have high blood pressure, low blood pressure, or your pressure is normal.

What is Hypertension, or High Blood Pressure

Blood pressure is measured in two numbers, one, the pressure formed when the heart beats (systolic, or upper number), two, the pressure formed between the two beats (diastolic, or lower number).  Here is a brief guide on what actually your blood pressure means.

Normal Blood Pressure: If your systolic pressure (upper number) is less than 120 and diastolic pressure (lower number) is less than 80;

Risk of High Blood Pressure: If your systolic pressure is 120-129 and diastolic pressure is less than 80;

High Blood Pressure: If your systolic pressure is 130-139 and diastolic pressure is less than 80-89;

Severe High Blood Pressure: If your systolic pressure is higher than 140 and diastolic pressure is higher than 90; and

Critical Case: If your systolic pressure is over 180 and diastolic pressure is higher than 120. In this case, you might even see blood in urine.

In order to be diagnosed with high blood pressure, your systolic readings for consecutive days should be higher than 140 in average and diastolic reading should be above 90 in average. However, you should remember one important thing. The normal blood pressure 120/80 is for adult and teens, however, for older people the normal pressure reading will be different. Let say a person is 50 years of age and when you add 90 it will be 140. If the systolic measurement for a person of 50 years is 140, it will be considered normal pressure. In case, the person is 60, and when you add 90, it will be 150 and this is still normal pressure for a person of 60 years. The figure 90 is an index to find out normal blood person for old people.

Things You Can Do When You Have High Blood Pressure

You measured your pressure for consecutive days and it measures above 140/90; or let say, average pressure for 24 hours is above 140/90. This means you have high blood pressure. So, what do you do now?
